Community Guidelines

Community Guidelines
The Burleson Plug is built to connect locals to local businesses and strengthen the community. These Community Guidelines exist to keep the Platform respectful, helpful, and trustworthy for everyone.
By using the Platform, posting content, leaving reviews, responding as a business, or attending Plug events (if applicable), you agree to follow these guidelines along with our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
1) Be Respectful and Helpful
We expect users and businesses to:
- treat others with respect
- keep discussions constructive
- focus on real experiences and useful information
- avoid personal attacks, harassment, or bullying
Disagreements happen — but disrespect and hostility are not welcome here.
2) Reviews Must Be Honest
Reviews should be based on a real experience and written in good faith.
Do not:
- post fake reviews (positive or negative)
- coordinate review attacks or review “campaigns”
- post reviews in exchange for money, discounts, or gifts without disclosure
- post competitor sabotage or personal grudges
We may remove reviews that violate our Reviews Policy.
3) No Hate, Harassment, or Threats
Content that targets a person or group with hate or discrimination is not allowed.
This includes:
- hate speech, slurs, discriminatory statements
- threats of violence or intimidation
- harassment, stalking, bullying, or humiliation
- sexually explicit harassment
We will remove this content and may suspend accounts immediately.
4) Protect Privacy
Do not post personal or private information about anyone, including:
- home addresses
- personal phone numbers or private emails
- ID numbers, license plates, or financial information
- medical information
- private communications (texts/emails) without consent
If you have a dispute with a business or reviewer, handle private details offline.
5) No Illegal or Dangerous Content
You may not use The Burleson Plug to promote or share:
- illegal products or services
- instructions or encouragement for wrongdoing
- content that glorifies violence or harm
- malware, phishing links, or scams
6) No Spam or Promotional Abuse
The Platform is a directory — not a spam board.
Do not:
- post repetitive promotional content
- post coupon codes repeatedly across reviews
- flood comments with links
- use the review system to advertise your own business
- create multiple accounts to manipulate visibility
Businesses should use their listing and membership tools, not the review section, to promote.
7) Business Owner Conduct
If you represent a business:
- respond to reviews professionally
- do not threaten customers for negative reviews
- do not share private customer details in public replies
- do not offer compensation specifically to remove or change reviews
- do not post fake reviews for your business or competitors
We may limit response privileges or remove accounts for abuse.
8) Listing and Profile Integrity
Businesses must:
- provide accurate listing information
- use real business names (no keyword stuffing)
- upload only content they have rights to use
- stay within category rules
Listings violating these standards may be edited, hidden, or removed (see Listing Guidelines).
9) Plug Events Guidelines (If Applicable)
Plug networking events and community events should be safe, respectful, and welcoming.
At events, do not:
- harass or discriminate
- cause disruptions or unsafe behavior
- pressure attendees aggressively with sales tactics
- violate venue rules
We reserve the right to deny entry or remove attendees who violate event rules.
10) Reporting Problems
If you see content or behavior that violates these guidelines, report it.
To report:
- use the “Report” link/button
- the listing/review/user profile URL (if available)
- a short description of the issue
- screenshots or supporting details (if applicable)
11) Enforcement
We may take action, including:
- removing content
- hiding listings or reviews
- limiting posting privileges
- suspending or terminating accounts
- restricting access to events (if applicable)
We may act immediately in serious situations (hate speech, threats, fraud, illegal activity).
12) Updates to These Guidelines
We may update these guidelines as the Platform grows. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
