Acceptable Use Policy
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) explains what is allowed and not allowed on The Burleson Plug (“Platform”). The goal is simple: keep the directory trustworthy, safe, and useful for the Burleson community.
By using the Platform, creating an account, submitting content, or purchasing a membership, you agree to follow this AUP along with our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Listing Guidelines, and Community Guidelines.
1) Use the Platform for Its Intended Purpose
The Platform is intended for:
- Discovering local businesses in Burleson, TX
- Publishing accurate business listings and realtor profiles (if enabled)
- Posting honest reviews and helpful information
- Participating in local events promoted through the Platform
Any use outside of this purpose may be restricted.
2) Prohibited Activities
You may not use the Platform to:
A. Break the law
- commit or promote illegal activity
- violate local, state, or federal laws or regulations
B. Post harmful or abusive content
- hate speech, harassment, bullying, threats
- discrimination or targeted attacks
- violent, graphic, or sexually explicit content
C. Commit fraud or impersonation
- impersonate a person, business, or organization
- claim a listing you are not authorized to manage
- create accounts with false identity information
- submit fake reviews or manipulate ratings
D. Spam or promotional abuse
- post repetitive promotional content in reviews or comments
- mass-message users or businesses without permission
- flood the Platform with duplicate content
- manipulate categories or keywords to game visibility
E. Attack or disrupt the Platform
- hack, probe, or attempt unauthorized access
- introduce malware, viruses, or harmful code
- disrupt servers, overload systems, or run denial-of-service attacks
- bypass security or access controls
F. Scrape or harvest data
- use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or automated tools to extract data
- collect user data, contact information, or reviews for resale or marketing
- copy listings in bulk to repost elsewhere without permission
G. Violate intellectual property
- upload copyrighted photos, videos, or logos without permission
- copy content from other websites and post it as your own
3) Account Rules
If you have an account, you agree to:
- keep your login credentials secure
- provide accurate information
- maintain updated business listing details
- only upload content you own or have rights to use
- follow tier limitations and dashboard rules
You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
4) Listing and Review Integrity
To protect the directory:
- listings must reflect real businesses serving Burleson or the city site’s area
- categories must be accurate and not misleading
- reviews must reflect real experiences and not be incentivized or fake
- businesses may not pressure users to remove reviews or retaliate against reviewers
We may remove content or restrict accounts that harm platform integrity.
5) Paid Features and Fair Use
Businesses may purchase memberships and add-ons (featured placement, banners, realtor listing bundles). Paid placement affects visibility but does not override platform rules.
You may not:
- attempt to obtain paid placements without paying
- manipulate features, billing, or promo placements
- abuse refund/chargeback systems to keep paid placements active without payment
6) Enforcement
If you violate this policy, we may take action including:
- removing content (listings, reviews, images, videos)
- suspending or terminating your account
- disabling paid features or hiding listings
- restricting access to events (if applicable)
- reporting unlawful behavior to authorities where required
We may act immediately for serious violations.
7) Reporting Issues
If you see misuse of the Platform, report it from here.
8) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy as the Platform grows. Updates will be posted with a revised “Last Updated” date.
